The Reality of Fantasy
When it comes to interfaces, where does the real world end and the fantasy one begin?
Or is it the other way around? Who is influencing and inspiring who?We will take a look at the reality of FUI work and the surprising similarities to real interface work. The myths, the cliches and the real reason that things look the way they do and the power it has to to both frustrate & inspire.
Biography
He is a visual designer who has worked in a wide range of disciplines from print graphics to motion design and visual effects. His work in motion graphics has included show titles and channel branding through to the area he specialized in; the design and creation of fantasy user interfaces for film. Over the years this work has given him the opportunity to create systems for films as diverse as The Bourne Ultimatum, Tomb Raider, Mission Impossible 3, The Island, Mr and Mrs Smith and many more.
Since then, he has evolved into working on real software, bringing the sensibilities acquired in the graphics and FUI background to bear on interactive projects for applications, experiences and services. A good eye and ability to make unique connections, find new patterns and occasionally daring to throw convention out of the window, whilst still keeping a firm foot on the ground.
Currently based in San Francisco.
